We were up early again today and saw the coastline of Cape Town area. We drove to the Cape of Good Hope which is the furthest southwestern point of Africa. It was very cloudy, windy and chilly in that area. We saw penguins at beautiful Boulder Beach, stopped at an ostrich farm and I made friends with one, of course. Went to a botanical garden. I actually cat-napped a couple of times when we were backtracking. It was a loooong day but a good day.
We came back to the hotel for an hour to freshen up before we headed out again for our South African home hosted dinner. The group was split into two groups and we each went to a local family's home for dinner. It was very interesting and fun. I gave them some Canadian souvenirs and they loved it. Dinner was good. I wish I had taken pics of the food. Their neighbours and extended family came over to check us out too.
Tomorrow we leave this nice hotel and bus to Hermanus which is about 2 hours away. We get to tour a winery and have lunch there before we head to the Arabella Hotel and Spa for 2 nights. Then the rest of the day is at our leisure. That will be great. Hopefully the hotel will have good internet and power outlets. haha

Thanks, I'm glad you like them. I intend to keep them coming.
DeleteWow Kendra it looks so beautiful there!! Have you been down to the beaches? Is the water too cold to swim? The kids are so cute!! have you been shopping? I am still jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure who you are....maybe my niece Krista? Or my friend Chrissie but then your alias wouldn't be with a K. Please identify yourself. haha Anyhow, unfortunately I don't have time to lay on the beach but the water is apparently 10C all year round. I did a bit of shopping but not a lot.
DeleteThose clouds are so strange! I've never seen anything like it! Its weird to see all those different plants and things. But I LOVE the penguins. I would try to take one home. Are they friendly? C:
ReplyDeleteI know, right? The clouds are so puffy and soft looking. It was great to see so many DIFFERENT plants and flowers than home, The penguins are so used to people. They just hang out really near you and sleep, You're not suppose to bug them. It would be hard for you to resist. haha
DeleteI WISH YOU HAD TAKEN PICTURES OF THE FOOD TOO!.haha seriously, WOW these pictures. How incredible....the scenery and the photography both! And penguinssssss :D. Good work Kendra! Your host family is so cute, glad that was a good experience. I'm happy that you represented Canada, you are the reason foreigners think we're all so freaking nice :) ♥.
